Altruistic Egg Donors Can Receive £750.00

The Herts and Essex Fertility Centre looks forward to the increased volume of enquiries from potential altruistic donors.
From 1 April 2012 women who donate their eggs at the Herts and Essex Fertility Centre can receive at least £750 for each donation. This increase from £250 will no doubt lead to an increase in the number of potential altruistic donors coming forward – which was the aim of the HFEA when they put this to public consultation.

In the news recently we have heard that researchers have found a possible source of unlimited eggs using stem cell technology. I have written a small review of this research, but more importantly as it stands at the moment we have an excellent source of donor eggs through our incredibly successful egg sharing programme.

As many people will be aware egg sharing has been a popular treatment option for numerous women young enough to share their eggs, who also need IVF/ICSI treatment themselves. This offers the sharer a good chance of success while at the same time helping another woman/couple who need donor eggs to fulfill their aspirations of becoming parents.
Fewer people are probably aware of sperm sharing however, which works in a similar way.
